Saitama City to Yokohama City by jumbo taxi
A special journey from Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, to Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The story begins with sightseeing in a jumbo taxi-wagon taxi at the request of an elderly couple who have been together for many years. Against the backdrop of Yokohama's rich history and modern-day attractions, the story explores their bond and the meaning of their journey. We had originally wanted to offer this journey in a Toyota Grand Ace, but the elderly couple's wishes led to the choice of a vehicle with steps that make it even easier to get in and out, hence the jumbo taxi is a Toyota Hiace this time.
Chinatown: a wide variety of cuisines
They pass through the bright gates of Yokohama Chinatown and walk along the colourful streets. It is the largest Chinatown in Japan, where a wide variety of cuisines await the elderly couple. As they tasted authentic Chinese dishes such as xiaolongbao (small baskets), fried noodles and prawn chilli, they talked about their past travels and memories.
Red brick warehouse district: discover new discoveries with a sense of history
Next, the jumbo taxi leads them to the historic Red Brick Warehouse district. This renovated area evokes the history of the former trading centre of the Port of Yokohama. The elderly couple took a break at a café and told us about the district's evolution and its role in modern times.

Sightseeing in a jumbo taxi/wagon taxi from Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City, to Yokohama City would have meant more than mere transport. The trip was an opportunity for the elderly couple to rediscover the charms of Yokohama, a time that strengthened their bond and enriched their shared memories. Yokohama's Chinatown and Red Brick Warehouse District became the setting for their story, symbolising a journey of love and memories. Experiencing the history and culture of Yokohama, as well as the breath of modernity, they would have imprinted new memories in their hearts. I really envied this elderly couple. They shared their time and experiences for a long time, and then, right up to the end, I could feel their attitude that they will always be there for each other and will continue to live on.
