Recently, our team at JumboTaxy.com had the delightful opportunity to take four lovely ladies on a gastronomic adventure to a hidden gem in Soka City, the "Soka Senbei En." While we were unable to capture their radiant smiles in photos, what we did experience was a culinary tradition that dates back centuries.
Soka Senbei manufacturing techniques:
Soka Senbei are no ordinary rice crackers. Made from Uruchi rice, Soka senbei are produced with the utmost care. The process begins with grinding the rice into a fine powder, which is then steamed to perfection. Once shaped, they are carefully dried and finally baked to a crisp. Traditionally, they are soy-sauce flavored and round in shape, but in modern times a variety of flavors are added, including sesame, miso, nori (seaweed), and sweet sugar.
Explore the Soka Senbei Garden:
Once you step into the Soka Senbei-en, it is like a world of rice crackers. Not only can you try your hand at making rice crackers, but you can also watch as the cracker chefs expertly bake each one over a charcoal fire. After all that excitement, the best thing to do is to take a break at one of the park's cafes. Enjoy the five senses with a selection of desserts, such as a spiral dessert with rice crackers and rice cracker doughnuts.
Bringing Back a Piece of Tradition:.
If you want to take some of this experience home with you, you should visit the store, which boasts a selection of over 120 varieties of rice crackers. From the standard ones to the special Tenhale made from organic rice in the workshop, there is something to suit every palate. And if you're looking for something a little different, there are straps and leather bags featuring senbei!
